Dr. Hamling was born and raised in Utah.  He graduated from University of Utah in 1992 with a B.S. in Medical Biology and a minor in German.  After moving to Virginia, he graduated from the medical college of Virginia in 1996 with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree Cum Laude.  From there, he did residencies in Missouri at The Truman Medical Center and at Marquette University, completing his endodontic residency in 1999, and moving to Bozeman shortly thereafter.  He was the first endodontist to open a practice in Bozeman, and was the only endodontist for the first 11 years of his tenure in Bozeman.

 Dr. Hamling and his wife Marcie are the proud parents of 6 children and 2 grandsons.  Jeff enjoys all that Montana has to offer, including hunting, fishing, camping, and art. He is a member of several professional dental organizations.

Endodontist Joseph Kohan, DDS, MSD

Dr. Joe Kohan is an Endodontist dedicated to providing quality, compassionate care with a focus on helping patients preserve their natural teeth. Born and raised in Juneau, Alaska. Dr. Kohan earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Nevada, Reno, where he played collegiate baseball. During his summers, he also worked as a fly-fishing guide throughout Alaska – an experience that fostered his appreciation for the outdoors and his connection with people from all walks of life. 

Dr. Kohan earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from The Ohio State University, graduating cum laude. Following dental school, he served four years as a dentist in the United States Navy. He spent his first year at Naval Air Station Jacksonville in Florida before being selected for a three-year assignment at Naval Air Station in Nevada, home of Navy’s Top Gun Program. 

After his military service, Dr. Kohan completed his specialty training in Endodontics at Indiana University School of Dentistry. During his residency, he earned a Master of Science in Dentistry and completed additional training in Oral Pathology. His advanced training provided him with a strong foundation in both the diagnosis and treatment of complex dental conditions and the latest techniques in endodontic care. 

Dr. Kohan believes that excellent endodontic treatment combines technical precision with genuine patient care. His goal is to make every patient feel informed, comfortable, and confident in their treatment while providing the highest level of care possible. Now proud to call Bozeman home, Dr. Kohan is excited to care for patients throughout the Gallatin Valley and surrounding communities. Outside the office, he enjoys fly fishing, hunting, skiing, and exploring Montana’s great outdoors.
